The Change Between Arthritis and Rheumatism

The Change Between Arthritis and Rheumatism

The Change Between Arthritis and Rheumatism

'Rheumatism' is a conventional and non-specific phrase used in the Eastern and Western to reference a wide range of circumstances impacting the bone, joint areas, epidermis, center, renal system, respiratory system. This phrase is quickly dropping out of give preference to in the Western these days because contemporary healthcare technology has found that most of these circumstances have different aetiologies (causes) demanding very different therapies.

You can say that it's a concept mainly used in China (& traditional) societies; it's also used by a community of People into natural and substitute treatment. The only typical features among these circumstances are: 1) they cause long-term serious discomfort, and 2) they are very challenging to cure.

'Arthritis' is a wide phrase represents swelling of the joint areas, but doesn't say anything about the cause. Contains circumstances like osteoarthritis, arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, infective arthritis, gouty arthritis arthritis, etc.

Generally, I'd split arthritis into 2 big groups:

1) Osteo arthritis (OA)

This is mainly a 'wear and tear' situation impacting seniors. Occurs from excessive use (e.g. workshop runners), past accidents (football players), obese, genetics. A lot of mature Oriental females get OA of the legs while the People in america and Folks get it in the waist. The discomfort is more technical than inflamed. So you get discomfort in the later part of the day after a lot of going for walks and ascending steps.

Because it's mainly a technical issue, therapy with pain relievers is only a short-term remedy. Long-term way of life changes are more important - vehicle, flexibility and muscle-strengthening workouts, decrease all kinds of weight-bearing actions (walking, getting, operating, holding hefty objects). In serious situations, healthcare procedures may be guaranteed.

2) Inflammatory ('Rheumatic') Arthritis

This team consists of the various kinds of arthritis which are mainly inflamed , not technical, in characteristics. They usually outcome from an auto-immune situation, which causes your immunity process to go haywire and strike the joint areas and other areas of the body. E.g. arthritis (RA), SLE (skin, renal system, joint areas, brain), skin psoriasis (skin, joints), ankylosing spondylitis (back, heart), gouty arthritis (joints, epidermis, kidneys), rheumatic center disease/fever (joints, center, skin). All these circumstances need different therapy options.

I'll discuss a bit about RA, the most typical situation in this team. As opposed to OA, RA can happen at any age and is usually genetic (we now have a analyze for the RA aspect in the blood). Pain is usually in the day, more intense when it's freezing, and gets better with action and use. That indicates an RA victim has beginning morning rigidity and discomfort, but gets better in manufactured when it's hotter and when he has shifted around a bit.

Treatment, unlike OA, is mainly through medication - pain relievers, anti-inflammatory medication like given, cytotoxic medication like sulfasalazine and MTX. In Japan, therapy is mainly through accupuncture, treated plasters and creams. With the wide arsenals of medication and non-drugs substitute therapies available these days, RA can be managed very well and the victim can actually cause a very dynamic life. Many OA patients however may gradually need healthcare procedures since we don't have very efficient medication for OA.

Is my Arthritis Stress Related?

Is my Arthritis Stress Related?

Is my Arthritis Stress Related?

Is it true that arthritis pain flairs up as a person's stress levels increase? Researchers first documented this correlation three years ago, during a particularly stressful point in a patients job search. The idea that the patient's perceived joint pain was stress related did not occur to her. She had convinced herself that the pain wasn't real. But the joint pain quickly became hard to dismiss as fictional.

Researchers began to investigate a possible link, and quickly found that, unlike the false health scare that vaccinations lead to arthritis; stress related joint pain has much supporting evidence. A study conducted by Dr. Alex J. Zautra of Arizona State University concluded that subjects with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis reported experiencing increased arthritis pain in response to weekly elevations in perceived stress, depression, and negative events. The abundance of testimonial evidence supports the same conclusion.

Although researchers have reached a general consensus on the existence of a stress-pain link, the strength of the link is still in question. As stress and pain levels are immeasurable, it is difficult to quantify the link between stress and pain. Research indicates that how the subject perceives negative events and responds to stress plays a large role in the level of reported pain increase. For example, one may consider a particular situation as a source of stress, while another may view it as trivial. This is the human element which science struggles to properly explain.

While it doesn't take an academic research article to show that the battle against arthritis pain is a mental as well as a physical game, it is refreshing knowing there is an accepted link between one's mental state and physical pain. Those living with arthritis must be especially aware of this relationship. During a patients job search, she found herself teetering on the edge of a perpetual down spiral of external stress increasing my arthritis pain and increased arthritis pain causing her more stress.

With knowledge of this danger, the patient recently altered the way she manages her Rheumatoid Arthritis. She has begun to treat her arthritis as a mental ailment as well as a physical condition. Incorporating stress-relieving methods along with arthritis aids such as arthritis gloves into her daily life has decreased the fluctuations in her joint pain while simultaneously leading her to live a healthier life.

Wearing compression sleeves for your arthritis pain can be a great assistant to managing the pain. The compression aids in swelling relief and adds much needed support to the surrounding area. The use of compression apparel to manage the pain also helps lower your stress by giving you the peace of mind to carry on with your daily activities.

General Foot Health A Biological Masterpiece, But Subject to Many Ills

The human foot is a biological masterpiece. Its strong, flexible, and functional design enables it to do its job well and without complaintâ€"if you take care of it and don’t take it for granted.

The foot can be compared to a finely tuned race car, or a space shuttle, vehicles whose function dictates their design and structure. And like them, the human foot is complex, containing within its relatively small size 26 bones (the two feet contain a quarter of all the bones in the body), 33 joints, and a network of more than 100 tendons, muscles, and ligaments, to say nothing of blood vessels and nerves.

Tons of Pressure

The components of your feet work together, sharing the tremendous pressures of daily living. An average day of walking, for example, brings a force equal to several hundred tons to bear on the feet. This helps explain why your feet are more subject to injury than any other part of your body.

Foot ailments are among the most common of our health problems. Although some can be traced to heredity, many stem from the cumulative impact of a lifetime of abuse and neglect. Studies show that most Americans experience foot problems of a greater or lesser degree of seriousness at some time in their lives; nowhere near that many seek medical treatment, apparently because they mistakenly believe that discomfort and pain are normal and expectable.

There are a number of systemic diseases that are sometimes first detected in the feet, such as diabetes, circulatory disorders, anemia, and kidney problems. Arthritis, including gout, often attacks foot joints first.

Specialized Care

Your feet, like other specialized structures, require specialized care. A doctor of podiatric medicine can make an important contribution to your total health, whether it is regular preventive care or surgery to correct a deformity.

In order to keep your feet healthy, you should be familiar with the most common ills that affect them. Remember, though, that self-treatment can often turn a minor problem into a major one and is generally not advisable. You should see a podiatric physician when any of the following conditions occur or persist.

Athlete’s foot is a skin disease, usually starting between the toes or on the bottom of the feet, which can spread to other parts of the body. It is caused by a fungus that commonly attacks the feet, because the wearing of shoes and hosiery fosters fungus growth. The signs of athlete’s foot are dry scaly skin, itching, inflammation, and blisters. You can help prevent infection by washing your feet daily with soap and warm water; drying carefully, especially between the toes; and changing shoes and hose regularly to decrease moisture. Athlete’s foot is not the only infection, fungal or otherwise, which afflicts the foot, and other dry skin/dermatitis conditions can be good reasons to see a doctor of podiatric medicine if a suspicious condition persists.

Blisters are caused by skin friction. Don’t pop them. Apply moleskin or an adhesive bandage over a blister, and leave it on until it falls off naturally in the bath or shower. Keep your feet dry and always wear socks as a cushion between your feet and shoes. If a blister breaks on its own, wash the area, apply an antiseptic, and cover with a sterile bandage.

Bunions are misaligned big toe joints which can become swollen and tender. The deformity causes the first joint of the big toe to slant outward, and the big toe to angle toward the other toes. Bunions tend to run in families, but the tendency can be aggravated by shoes that are too narrow in the forefoot and toe. There are conservative and preventive steps that can minimize the discomfort of a bunion, but surgery is frequently recommended to correct the problem.

Corns and calluses are protective layers of compacted, dead skin cells. They are caused by repeated friction and pressure from skin rubbing against bony areas or against an irregularity in a shoe. Corns ordinarily form on the toes and calluses on the soles of the feet. The friction and pressure can burn or otherwise be painful and may be relieved by moleskin or padding on the affected areas. Never cut corns or calluses with any instrument, and never apply home remedies, except under a podiatrist’s instructions.

Foot odor results from excessive perspiration from the more than 250,000 sweat glands in the foot. Daily hygiene is essential. Change your shoes daily to let each pair air out, and change your socks, perhaps even more frequently than daily. Foot powders and antiperspirants, and soaking your feet in vinegar and water, can help lessen odor.

Hammertoe is a condition in which any of the toes are bent in a claw-like position. It occurs most frequently with the second toe, often when a bunion slants the big toe toward and under it, but any of the other three smaller toes can be affected. Although the condition usually stems from muscle imbalance, it is often aggravated by ill-fitting shoes or socks that cramp the toes. Avoid pressure on the toes as much as possible. Surgery may be necessary to realign the toes to their proper position.

Heel pain can generally be traced to faulty biomechanics which place too much stress on the heel bone, ligaments, or nerves in the area. Stress could result while walking or jumping on hard surfaces, or from poorly made footwear. Overweight is also a major contributing factor. Some general health conditionsâ€"arthritis, gout, and circulatory problems, for exampleâ€"also cause heel pain.

Heel spurs are growths of bone on the underside of the heel bone. They can occur without pain; pain may result when inflammation develops at the point where the spur forms. Both heel pain and heel spurs are often associated with plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the long band of connective tissue running from the heel to the ball of the foot. Treatments may range from exercise and custom-made orthotics to anti-inflammatory medication or cortisone injections.

Ingrown nails are nails whose corners or sides dig painfully into the skin, often causing infection. They are frequently caused by improper nail trimming but also by shoe pressure, injury, fungus infection, heredity, and poor foot structure. Toenails should be trimmed straight across, slightly longer than the end of the toe, with toenail clippers. If the ingrown portion of the nail is painful or infected, your podiatric physician may remove the affected portion; if the condition reoccurs frequently, your podiatrist may permanently remove the nail.

Neuromas are enlarged, benign growths of nerves, most commonly between the third and fourth toes. They are caused by bones and other tissue rubbing against and irritating the nerves. Abnormal bone structure or pressure from ill-fitting shoes also can create the condition, which can result in pain, burning, tingling, or numbness between the toes and in the ball of the foot. Conservative treatment can include padding, taping, orthotic devices, and cortisone injections, but surgical removal of the growth is sometimes necessary.

Warts are caused by a virus, which enters the skin through small cuts and infects the skin. Children, especially teenagers, tend to be more susceptible to warts than adults. Most warts are harmless and benign, even though painful and unsightly. Warts often come from walking barefooted on dirty surfaces or littered ground. There are several simple procedures which your podiatric physician might use to remove warts.

Top Ten Foot Health Tips

Diseases, disorders and disabilities of the foot or ankle affect the quality of life and mobility of millions of Americans. However, the general public and even many physicians are unaware of the important relationship between foot health and overall health and well-being. With this in mind, the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) would like to share a few tips to help keep feet healthy.

1. Don't ignore foot painâ€"it's not normal. If the pain persists, see a podiatric physician.

2. Inspect your feet regularly. Pay attention to changes in color and temperature of your feet. Look for thick or discolored nails (a sign of developing fungus), and check for cracks or cuts in the skin. Peeling or scaling on the soles of feet could indicate athlete's foot. Any growth on the foot is not considered normal.

3.
Wash your feet regularly, especially between the toes, and be sure to dry them completely.

4. Trim toenails straight across, but not too short. Be careful not to cut nails in corners or on the sides; it can lead to ingrown toenails. Persons with diabetes, poor circulation, or heart problems should not treat their own feet because they are more prone to infection.

5. Make sure that your shoes fit properly. Purchase new shoes later in the day when feet tend to be at their largest and replace worn out shoes as soon as possible.

6. Select and wear the right shoe for the activity that you are engaged in (i.e., running shoes for running).

7. Alternate shoesâ€"don't wear the same pair of shoes every day.

8. Avoid walking barefootedâ€"your feet will be more prone to injury and infection. At the beach or when wearing sandals, always use sunblock on your feet just as on the rest of your body.

9. Be cautious when using home remedies for foot ailments; self-treatment can often turn a minor problem into a major one.

10. If you are a person with diabetes, it is vital that you see a podiatric physician at least once a year for a check-up.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a horrible disease, it can strike you at any age, it is always delivering disease flare-ups and often followed by remission. It can strike numerous joints at one time which can always cause permanent deterioration and deformity.

It is a disease that always gets worse after a period of time and leads to painful swelling and permanent damage in the joints of the body particularly the wrists, feet, fingers, ankle and so on.

The injured tissues cause reddening, swelling and pain in the particular area. Apart from inflammatory joints, this disease can even hit one's internal organs such as lungs, eyes and heart. It is therefore a systemic ailment that often produces excruciating intolerable pain.

A burning pain in the joints that last for one month or more at a stretch indicates Rheumatoid Arthritis. You should take some action, however,if the pain travels to your sacroiliac joints of lower back or to the upper spine, the disease is other than this one.

Early treatment for rheumatoid arthritis is very important. for the prevention of a worse state of affairs. Some years ago, many rheumatoid arthritis patients were disabled within the first two to three years of this disease. It is a known fact that some people are more susceptible than others to the joint damage and disability associated with the disease. For this reason, not all patients require an aggressive treatment.

When the rheumatoid arthritis is moderate to severe, drugs like Trexakk, Arava, Enbrel, Humira, Remicade and Rheumatrex may be prescribed. when Stronger, newer drugs, such as Orencia and Rituxan are needed to patients who don't respond well to the above drugs.

Vomiting | Causes and Treatment for Vomiting after Eating

The involuntary emptying of stomach contents, through the mouth is known as vomiting. For some medicinal reasons, forcible voluntary vomiting is also opted. But, here we are going to consider involuntary vomiting after eating which can not be controlled. Nausea often precedes vomiting but nausea may not always lead to vomiting. Nausea along with headache can sometimes precede vomiting but there can be no symptoms also, when vomiting after eating occurs suddenly. This can be due to several mild or serious medical disorders in the body. This is a type of eating disorder. Let us have a look at the causes behind this eating disorder.

Causes of Vomiting after Eating

* Simple Causes: Inadequate sleep, high blood pressure, excessive exposure to heat, high altitude, motion sickness, sea sickness, indigestion, side effects of certain medicines, exposure to chemical toxins, emotional stress or fear, certain smells or odors, fever etc. may cause vomiting after eating.

* Improper Habits: Taking meals too frequently or starvation for a long period of time, long intervals between two meals, hastily eating and gulping of food, consuming too heavy fatty meals, eating when not required, eating late at night, lead to vomiting after eating.

* Serious Causes: Due to the dysfunction of any of the human body systems, vomiting after eating can occur. So, you should consult your doctor immediately if there is constant intestinal pain after eating and vomiting. Blocked intestine, gall bladder diseases, gluten intolerance, brain tumor, ulcers, meningitis, appendicitis, migraine headaches, dehydration are some of the causes of vomiting after eating.

* Food Content: This is the most common cause of vomiting after eating food. Certain ingredients or certain foods which do not suit your body, are not accepted by the digestive system. When such ingredients are present in your food, they can lead to vomiting after eating. If you are not used to spicy and hot food, consumption of such food may lead to vomiting.

* Food Poisoning: There are various causes of food poisoning. Bacteria from the contaminated food, improper washing of hands or fresh ingredients, poor hygiene can lead to vomiting after eating.

* Food Allergy: Food allergies lead to discomfort and nausea after eating. Some people have lactose allergy, some have food-color allergy.

* Side Effect of Therapies: People undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy may have to face the problem of vomiting after eating.

* Pregnancy: During pregnancy, vomiting after eating is quite common. Nausea, known as 'morning sickness' is the cause of vomiting after eating and drinking during pregnancy.

* Alcohol: Alcohol abuse leads to vomiting after eating.

Vomiting usually subsides within a few hours. There are more chances of dehydration after vomiting, in case of children. Sunken eyes, rapid pulse, dry lips are the symptoms found, when vomiting after eating in children does not subside and continues for a long period of time. You should contact your doctor in such cases, as early as possible.

Treatment for Vomiting:

In the absence of known pathophysiology, treatment of cyclic vomiting syndrome (CVS) remains empiric.18,46 The following 5 management strategies are used for cyclic vomiting syndrome: avoidance of triggers, prophylactic pharmacotherapy, abortive therapy, supportive care during acute episodes, and family support.

Find powerful herbal remedies

Shortness of Breath and Vomiting

Pharmacologic therapy is used to prevent episodes of vomiting or to decrease their frequency. Other medications may be used to abort or attenuate episodes once they begin. Preventive medications are normally used in patients with more than a single episode of cyclic vomiting syndrome per month. The mainstays of prophylactic therapy include cyproheptadine, amitriptyline, propranolol, phenobarbital, and erythromycin. If abortive therapy fails, supportive combinations such as ondansetron plus lorazepam or chlorpromazine plus diphenhydramine may attenuate an attack of cyclic vomiting in progress.

In some instances, avoiding identified dietary triggers, such as chocolate, cheese, and monosodium glutamate (MSG) can prevent episodes without the use of medication.29 If psychological stressors trigger episodes, stress management techniques or benzodiazepine anxiolytics (lorazepam or diazepam) may help to abort attacks in the early stages. However, avoiding common triggers such as car rides and infection may be impractical or impossible. Interestingly, a 70% decrease in frequency of episodes (placebo effect) upon consultation and lifestyle changes without drug therapy has been noted.

Arthritis Diet for Arthritis and Osteoarthritis Symptoms

Arthritis Diet for Arthritis and Osteoarthritis Symptoms

Arthritis Diet for Arthritis and Osteoarthritis Symptoms

Take fruits and vegetables in the form of salads

The diet of an arthritis patient should be planned to produce alkalinity in the blood. It should include fruits and vegetables in the form of salads, and, at least, two cooked vegetables. In severe cases, it would be advisable to put the patient in the therapy of raw vegetable juice three times a day for about a week. Repeated juice fasts are recommended at intervals of every two months.

Other treatments of arthritis

There should be plenty of indirect ventilation in the bedroom. Rest is advised when there is acute inflammation in the joints.

Arthritis treatment using Copper

Drinking water kept overnight in copper container accumulates traces of copper, which is said to strengthen the muscular system. A ring or bracelet of copper are used for the same reason.

Bathing in the sea

Bathing in the sea has been found valuable in arthritis. The natural iodine in sea water is said to relieve arthritis pain. As is well known, iodine regulates the acid-alkaline balance in the blood and tissues, helps to repair and regenerate tissues and nourishes the skeletal structure. Enter the secretion of the thyroid gland. The hormone used iodine to clean the internal toxins. If the dip in the sea is not possible, the patient should relax for thirty minutes every night in a hot tub, where a cup of salt has been mixed. Salt minerals, especially iodine, are absorbed through the pores of the skin. This will help correct internal imbalances

Arthritis Cure - Finding Arthritis Pain Relief

Arthritis Cure - Finding Arthritis Pain Relief

Arthritis Cure - Finding Arthritis Pain Relief There is a lot that can be said about an arthritis cure but have you notice that cures can often be evasive or non-existence. At least, these miracles are not known to the general public. Man's quest to find the impossible has been documented throughout history. Cures I believe exist for every disease known to man. If this was not true, why are we trying to find them. When it comes to arthritis however, simple remedies can lead to arthritis pain relief if not maybe an actual cure.

A natural cure for arthritis can come in all forms. There are teas, salves, and supplements all in the name of providing relief from arthritis symptoms. By definition, a cure means to restore health or to recover from a disease. In order to recover from any type of disease, sometimes it is necessary to use all available treatment at your disposal. Let's explore some potential arthritis cures and see if they are worth pursuing.

First of all, there are herbal teas that can be taken like ginger and nettle. What I like about herbal teas is that they are easily absorb by the body and the effect is often immediate. Ginger and nettle are herbs that reduce inflammation in the joints. They also release compounds that attack prostaglandins which are often the source of joint pain. Other herbs such as boswellia and white willow bark decreases joint pain and can be made into a tea as well. You can brew yourself a gallon of these herbs and sip on a cup of this all day.

Ointments and salves are often effective in relieving arthritis pain. I don't know if you could classify them as an arthritis cure but effective none of the less. When you rub these ointments into the affected area, they provide soothing relief from arthritis symptoms. Tiger Balm and Zeel cream are such ointments and they are the most widely used salves on the market today.

Natural supplements like glucosamine and chondroitin are also used for arthritis symptoms. Unlike salves and teas, natural supplements act to correct the arthritis pain by repairing cartilage damage from the inside out. It may take a day or two to notice the difference but with constant use the results are remarkable and long standing.

So what is an arthritis cure? I would say it is what ever relieves your arthritis symptoms. Using a combination of all of these remedies can bring about arthritis pain relief, the question is can this be classified as a cure? I will leave that up to you to decide.

Treating Kidney Disease in Cats

Treating Kidney Disease in Cats

Treating Kidney Disease in Cats

As a cat ages, it is more susceptible to kidney disease. Chronic renal failure (CRF) is more common in cats over 15 years old. Since the disease is life threatening, early detection can stabilize the condition and provide for a good quality of life.

If the animal is experiencing weight loss, excessive thirst and urination, loss of appetite, vomiting, difficulty in urinating or a dull coat, the disease could be a cause of the problem. Other diseases such as hyperthyroidism and diabetes causing similar symptoms can mask this condition. A veterinarian can determine if it is present. If left untreated, the kidneys will completely shut down leading to death.

Once CRF is diagnosed, there is no cure but life can be extended with proper treatment. It is diagnosed by a blood panel measuring levels of critical components. A low phosphorus diet can help prevent or retard it. The diet should also consist of low protein content, low sodium content and high potassium content. The diet should not restrict essential nutrients to maintain the animal's health.

The low phosphorus content decreases kidney calcification called nephrocalcinosis. It is the deposit of calcium salts in the kidneys. When functioning nephrons drop below 25%, kidney failure occurs. Toxins build up in the blood and the kidneys are not able to filter the blood to eliminate the toxins. The kidneys besides eliminating waste in the blood, regulate the body's acidity, electrolyte levels, water balance, hormone production and vitamin D.

CRF can be treated by adding additional fluids to food or under the skin (SQ fluids), diet, medications (Epogen shots or oral medication) and appetite stimulants. Appetite stimulants are important because a poor appetite is a result of the disease. Adding tuna juice or liquid from canned food can help the feeding process. In some cases, force feeding with a syringe may be the only alternative. For these options to work, dehydration must not be present. This is also beneficial to an older healthy cat because it could prevent the disease. Hemodialysis and kidney transplants are rare and expensive.

The condition can cause an emotional experience for an owner. The pet will have it's good days and bad days. An owner must try to relax and not stress out. The pet will sense the owner's stress and this can have an effect on it's health. Like any serious condition, the life expectancy is unknown. Caring for and enjoying the cat is the best way to cope with the problem.

There are many foods on the market that are tailored to be used for CRF. Royal Canin and Wellness Core are two brands that offer a low phosphor food. Consult a veterinarian to determine what is best treatment.

Changing your dieting and consuming certain foods also can serve as a great all natural remedy for spots. Ingredients that are rich in zinc can help you relieve pimples. Zinc works as the antibacterial agent and having a low zinc diet may result in acne episodes.

It's also advisable to stay well hydrated. Drinking mineral water will assist to flush toxins from the system regularly. Carrots consist of beta-carotene that's fundamentally Vitamin A. It will help reinforce your skin's defensive tissue and also helps in preventing acne breakouts. Aside from that, it is able to reduce the creation of sebum; this is responsible for cystic acne flare ups. That is one good reason why many acne products contain Vitamin A.  Including chromium in your daily diet is also pretty important. You could take chromium by using vitamin supplements that are available at most health food stores. A very good skin treatment routine for your face can easily be an exceptional way of preventing acne outbreaks. Bathe your face twice a day and always get rid of your makeup at the end of the day. Never scrub, use a wash cloth, or wash your face in excess of twice a day. Should your skin is washed too much; your sebaceous glands will need to create more oil which can cause more acne breakouts.

It's also advisable to exfoliate and use astringents when necessary, ideally once weekly. A great exfoliation mask can be created out of oatmeal if you want a all natural acne remedy. A natural astringent can be obtained from witch hazel. Apply it directly to your face using a cotton pad or a cotton ball. Even though it might not sound like a all natural acne cure, be sure to change your sheets and pillowcases on consistently. Both of these contain dead skin cells and oil that has rubbed off from the face overnight. Ensure that they are being cleansed properly in order to avoid acne breakouts.

Rheumatoid Arthritis affects around 0.8% of the UK population. The majority of those affected will be female and most will be diagnosed between the ages of 30 and 50. Given these figures, it is no wonder that the question of how to parent with Rheumatoid Arthritis often comes up.

Here is my quick guide to Parenting with Rheumatoid Arthritis:

Talk to your children
It can be difficult finding the right words to explain to your children why you are no longer able to do the things you used to, but the alternative leaves children confused and worried. Don't make a big deal of it, but find some time to sit down with your child and discuss your diagnosis. Remember to use age appropriate terms and listen to your child's worries and fears. A great way to involve your children is to let them try out your aids - if you have a wheelchair let them sit in it, if you have wrist splints let them try them on. Above all, remind your children that although life has changed, your love for them never will. A visit to the library can be a good source of age appropriate books on disability.

Take advantage of the good days
With Rheumatoid Arthritis you will have good days and bad days. Unfortunately, predicting which day will be which is pretty impossible. Be spontaneous! On a good day, ditch your boring plans and visit the seaside or take a walk.

Forget the cleaning
How would you like your children to remember their childhood? As one filled with cleaning or one filled with play? Save your energy for the important things in life.

Introduce film night
If your children are a bit older then a film night can be a good way of getting a bit of rest. With all of the family sat around the TV, you can put your feet up without feeling guilty. Alternatively take them to the cinema and enjoy a quick 40 winks.

Enlist older children
If you have older children then enroll their help - a helping hand opening jars or turning keys will make life so much easier. Don't feel guilty about it, you'll be teaching them a valuable lesson about compassion and family responsibility.

Don't be afraid to buy arthritis aids
The thought of buying arthritis aids can be scary - somehow making your diagnosis more final. Don't let this put you off, there are some great aids out there which will massively improve your life. A pretty cane, a jar opener for the kitchen or a funky coloured wrist splint will do wonders for your confidence.

Finally, ask for help
Rheumatoid Arthritis is often called the "invisible disease". Often you don't look ill and unless your swelling is particularly bad you may struggle to impress upon friends and family just how difficult everyday tasks can be. It's hard to ask for help, but even something as small as asking a neighbour to help put the rubbish out can be a real achievement. Remember, you didn't ask for this disease.

Reactive Molecules-what They Are And What It Means For Your Weight Loss!

Reactive Molecules-what They Are And What It Means For Your Weight Loss!

Reactive Molecules-what They Are And What It Means For Your Weight Loss! What do we mean by the terminology reactive molecules?

Reactive molecules are very basic components of the immune system and fundamental to it as well as the healing process. They are instrumental in turning on those antioxidants that effectively protect us from the aging process and the free radicals that increase it. In order to protect and sustain our health, our body has to maintain the correct chemical balance of these reactive molecules.

We have long been taught that antioxidants are the keys to fighting the aging process and maintaining our health. However, what most individuals do not realize is the fact that by themselves, these antioxidants are not capable of fighting those free radicals without the assistance of reactive molecules. The bottom line is that you need to make sure that you maintain a level of reactive molecules in order to maintain better health and well-being.

About the revolutionary product

This breakthrough product Asea contains two sets of perfectly balanced reactive molecules which is the same combination that the mitochondria in all of our body cells naturally produce. Additionally, this combines with the coenzyme ATP needed to fuel the cells of our body. One of these sets of reactive molecules is responsible where the activation of antioxidants is concerned.

Without these reactive molecules being present, these antioxidants dont stand a chance of fighting the damaging free radicals reducing the process of oxidative stress. The other set of reactive molecules is critical to what is referred to as damage control communications at both the intra- and inter-cellular levels as well as cellular protection. All of these are critical components of the healing process.

It was only within recent years that research scientists discovered what an important role these reactive molecules played in maintaining our bodies and our health. Up until now, they have not been able to develop a stable mixture of these reactive molecules outside of our bodies. Our product is the very first and the only stable mixture of these reactive molecules existing outside of ones body which has been perfectly balanced. They can help you effectively maintain the proper balance of these molecules within your body.

As a result, the healing process and your immune system will benefit and be supported better in the process. When this proper balance of reactive molecules is achieved, the healing process and your immune system are able to operate at their optimum levels. Asea has nearly 20 years of research behind it, so it is a natural and safe method of enabling your body to function the way it is supposed to.

How to Get Relief From Yeast Infection Sores

How to Get Relief From Yeast Infection Sores

How to Get Relief From Yeast Infection Sores

No woman will tell you that an infection caused by yeast is pleasant. In fact, it can be rather irritating. Typical symptoms include itching, burning, discharge and even yeast infection sores. These type of sores can be painful and annoying. Most women will want a remedy that will relieve them of the pain and help clear up the sores. The good news is that there are simple and easy ways to get relief from these type of irritations.

One way to get rid of yeast infection sores is to cleanse the area thoroughly and then apply pure honey to each one. Then, wait approximately 30 minutes and wash the honey off. This can be applied several times a day in order to get maximum relief from the itch and irritation.

Another remedy that can be effective is to apply yogurt to the area. It is important to remember to use only plain, unflavored yogurt as you do not want sweetened yogurt or any thing that contains fruit in the area. Yogurt works because it contains lactobacillus which is an enemy to yeast.

Yet another home remedy that may provide some relief from yeast infection sores is to peel and finely chop two cloves of garlic and then combine them with 100 mL of olive oil. For best results, heat the ingredients and then cool the substance before applying to the affected area. This can be reapplied as necessary for relief.

Other known natural remedies for yeast infection sores include applying a solution of one part apple cider vinegar and one part water to the affected area. Beware, this will likely sting and cause some minor discomfort at first. But many people have found that it ultimately will give relief to the sufferer. Another recommendation is to wear 100 % cotton underwear and avoid wearing any tight fitting clothing that could possibly cause friction in the area.

When trying to determine how to get relief from yeast infection sores, any or all of the above remedies can be helpful. Since they are all natural, don't be afraid to try more than one, or all of them to see which one will work for you.

Raccoon Roundworms in Dogs

Raccoon Roundworms in Dogs

Raccoon Roundworms in Dogs

Raccoon roundworms in dogs are something you may have never heard about; but the infections are increasing, and the results can be devastating to your dog. It is also a very threatening infection in people, especially children.

What also makes this infection so deadly is there is currently no known treatment for dogs or humans, and even if there was, this infection is so vicious that by the time it is discovered the damage is already done.

What exactly is Raccoon Roundworms?

Raccoon roundworms are known as the B. procyonis nematode and they actually do very little harm to a raccoon, but if dogs or humans come into contact with the infested larva, it invades several body organs, the central nervous system, as well as the eyes.

It has been estimated that over 50 percent of all raccoons have this roundworm infection and it is predominant in all of North America, but it is especially dangerous in the Midwest, where it is estimated that over 80 percent of the raccoon population is infected.

Infected raccoons will shed literally millions of eggs that have been infested by this nematode in their feces. Once they are released, these infested eggs will start to develop into an infective stage within two to four weeks. These eggs are so strong and so resilient to most any environmental challenge that if they have any type of moisture, they can survive for several years.

What make them so dangerous to dogs as well as humans are the dangers of easy contact. Cats are also subject, especially if they wander in wooden areas. Raccoons, because of more land developments, are now commonly found in both urban and rural areas.

Raccoons will create what is known as latrines. In a raccoon latrine, one raccoon will defecate and when other raccoons smell the scent they will find the same place and defecate there as well. There now will be literally billions of these infected eggs in the latrines. What is so scary about this infection is that you may never know that it is a latrine unless you understand what to look for.

These latrines are often found under or near decks in your back yard, sand boxes, sheds, or crawl spaces. However, they have also been found on roofs, wood piles by fences, as well as under trees. Several of these places could contain yard tools that you use as well as children's toys that can easily become contaminated; or they may just places that you or your dog would naturally come across.

How Raccoon Roundworms are spread:

These infected eggs are so small they are hard to detect. They are extremely sticky, and as such they will stick to the handles on garden tools such as racks or shovels, as well as children's toys. People can become infected, especially children, by coming into contact with the eggs and than placing there hands near the mouth or the eyes.
Dogs are subject to infection by eating an infected bird that may have been exposed to the eggs as well as exposure to the latrine. They are also infected simply by grooming their body once they have made contact as the eggs will stick to their fur coats.

These nematodes are so virulent that if not detected in your dog they will than hatch and start their migration process toward your pet's organs and the damage that they cause will be absolutely devastating to your pet.

Once these eggs are accidently ingested by your dog, or even worse, a human, they lay in wait until they hatch. Once hatched, they immediately start their migration process referred to as the larvae syndrome. As they migrate, they start to grow; and it is this growth that causes the horrific damages.

Symptoms:

As their migration continues, a form of mechanical damage will start to surface in the form of very strong inflammatory reactions that will immediately start damaging the host's central nervous system. These symptoms will start to surface within two to three weeks of infection.

The symptoms will not be mild. It may start out as a loss of coordination, an enlarged liver, respiratory problems, and lethargy. If a large number of eggs have been ingested, the lethargy will soon lead to stupors that will rapidly result in comas and most likely death. This is a violent infection.

The eyes in several pets and some humans, especially children, may also become infected. The symptoms with the eyes will be a very sudden sensitivity to light and in most cases a loss of vision.

Diagnosis and treatment:

The only viable method of diagnosing this vicious infection will be through the eye as the infection will show up in an ophthalmologic exam. Otherwise, it will be very difficult to test for other than the clinical signs.

There is no treatment at this time. What is extremely threatening with this infection is that the damage that has been done by the migration process is permanent; even if a treatment is found the only protection may come in prevention.

Prevention:

The best preventive measure is to protect yourself and your pet from raccoons. Keeping a raccoon as a pet is inviting serious trouble. Raccoons exist in almost every type of neighborhood; you just may not see them as they will roam at night. Keeping garbage locked and secured will prevent them from invading, but not always.

It is important to understand that these eggs poise no threat at all unless they have had time to become active in the environment which is three to four weeks. Fresh raccoon feces are not yet infected, and if you suspect raccoon activity you will need to clean it daily as that will help to prevent them from building latrines.

Raccoon feces are very easy to identify. They are tubular in shape and will have blunt ends and will be about the size of a dime or nickel and will almost always be dark in color. You may also see small seeds in the feces. As it ages, it will decompose and look like bark or dried leaves.

If you suspect large contaminated areas, the only way to sterilize it and totally kill the entire larva will be with a potable propane torch. The only real defense against raccoon roundworms in dogs is by preventing it.

What is Ultrasound?

What is Ultrasound?

What is Ultrasound?

Ultrasound which is also known as sonography is a medical procedure which makes use of high frequency waves in order to produce visual images of tissues, organs and blood flow within the body. The ultrasound technique involves transmitting high frequency sound waves to the area of interest in the body and recording the returning echoes. This procedure is commonly known as an ultrasound scan or a sonogram. The ultrasound technique was developed during World War 2. The purpose was to find submerged objects. Today, it is widely used for medical purposes.

Different body parts can be examined by using sonography. Some of the commonly looked at parts include the heart, blood vessels, female reproductive system, breasts, abdomen, prostrate and so on. In obstetrics, the technique is used to study the number, location and age of the fetus. It can also be used to detect abnormalities such as liver diseases and gallstones. Cardiac ultrasound can be used to identify heart diseases.

Over the years, ultrasound is being greatly used to detect and treat heart problems including vascular diseases and heart attacks. Diagnostic ultrasound makes use of no radiation and there are no risks of hazards such as infections, reactions, and bleeding. People who perform ultrasound techniques are known as vascular technologists and sonographers. These days, ultrasounds are commonly used on pregnant ladies to views images of their baby as well as their ovaries, placenta and amniotic sac. Scans are performed on the skin surface with the use of a gel which enhances the quality of the images. Transvaginal ultrasound is an alternative to the common types of ultrasounds. When the transvaginal ultrasound technique is employed, a tubular probe is inserted inside the vaginal canal.

This technique produces more clear images, but they are not greatly used. Before an ultrasound can be preformed, there are no set procedures that have to be followed. The only thing that doctors can recommend is taking 4-6 glass of water before the technique is performed. The reason is that when the bladder is full, doctors are able to view the image more clearly. People who want to become ultrasound professionals do not attend medical schools. Since ultrasound is a specialised area of health care, there are many schools which offer this program. It is important to note that sonographers are not physicians.

They are in fact trained in this specialised area. Interested students can choose to take certificate level courses or degree level courses. The length of the courses can vary from one year to four years.

Topical cream Renova (Tretinoin) - use for treating diabetic foot ulcers

Topical cream Renova (Tretinoin) - use for treating diabetic foot ulcers

Topical cream Renova (Tretinoin) - use for treating diabetic foot ulcers

Diabetes is one of the most daunting health conditions affecting the entire world population, especially in developed countries. It has been ranked in the top ten reasons of human mortality for quite some time now, and due to unhealthy lifestyles, its proportion in human disorders just keeps increasing. Apart from its disruptive effect, diabetes can also raise a number of other long-term complications like atherosclerotic vascular disease, nephropathy, retinopathy, etc.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is one such chronic development of diabetes. The nerves from all over the body send signals to the brain, which helps the brain to understand the overall activities happening in the body. Similarly the brain also orders different organs into action through these set of nerves. A patient of peripheral neuropathy or ischemia will have disrupted network of nerves, thus resulting in wrong signals between the brain and the affected body parts. One of the most important organs to be affected by peripheral neuropathy is the leg. Foot ulcers are one of the most important indications of the leg being affected by peripheral neuropathy.

320,000 to 480,000 Americans annually suffer from some kind of foot ulcer due to peripheral neuropathy. The ulcers can go on to aggravate the situation and develop into gangrene. This may need an amputation of the foot to reduce the infection from spreading. Certain studies carried out recently have found adjunctive use of generic topical Tretinoin (Renova) cream to be quite effective on the partial as well as full thickness wounds caused by diabetic foot ulcers. It is advisable that patients do not buy Renova cream and start generic topical Renova application on their own. Diabetic ulcers usually do not cause much pain and hence it is difficult to realize their presence for starting the treatment. Users should buy Renova only after the physician is certain of the ulcer's presence and stage of development.

Diabetic Wounds, Treatment and Use of Renova

When a regular wound starts to heal, its cure happens in stages. The wound should first stop bleeding, which is followed by inflammation and disposal of dead tissues. Proliferation follows along with reduction in wound size and then the process of self-healing starts. Finally, a new layer of skin covers up the wound. In a diabetic, the healing process has number of interruptions and irritations in each step of healing. Hence diabetic wounds need to be treated in a different manner. Some of the more frequently used methods of treating these wounds (used individually or in combination) include, preventing any stress on the injury; removal of dead tissue; proper supply of oxygen to the wound or sugar control.

Generic Renova is a retinoid, which increases cell multiplication, thus increasing the rate of wound healing. The epidermal thickness of the skin increases and the production of new blood vessels on the superficial dermis layer of the skin in enhanced. It increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients that are supplied to the affected part and it also produces biologically active agents that promote growth. The practical studies carried out to check the use of generic topical Renova in partial and full thickness foot ulcers caused by diabetes have given very good results and hence it can be used in treating diabetic foot ulcers. Yet it is advisable that before patients buy Renova for diabetic foot ulcers, the latest updates should be checked with the physician.

Causes of rheumatoid arthritis

The exact reasons why you may develop RA aren't fully understood at present. There are a number of things that seem to be involved. Women are nearly three times more likely to get RA than men. Symptoms tend to improve during pregnancy, suggesting that hormones and the immune system may be involved. It's possible that RA is triggered by an infection or virus, but there isn't any evidence to prove this.

Having certain genes makes it more likely that you will get RA, and the disease runs in some families. Lifestyle factors may also increase your risk, for example, if you smoke or are obese.

Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis

You may notice discomfort initially in a few joints such as your fingers, knuckles, wrists or the balls of your feet. Typically RA is a 'symmetrical' arthritis - this means it affects both wrists or both hands in the same way. For most people, RA develops quite slowly at first. Other people find the condition comes on quickly and painfully, making it difficult to carry out daily activities. Symptoms include:

1.  Pain and swelling around the joint, making it tender and warm

2.  Stiffness in the morning, or if you sit for a long time

3.  Poor grip strength

4.  Tiredness, making you feel irritable and depressed

5.  Flu-like symptoms such as fever

How To Treat Swelling Feet

How To Treat Swelling Feet

How To Treat Swelling Feet

Swelling foot is really annoying, painful and even prevents you from doing your daily tasks. It is recommended to get a proper medical check-up because swelling foot can be a symptom of various serious medical conditions like arthritis and nerve circulatory problem.

Surrounding such protruded swelling is a fairly significant reddened area. Internally, the consistency that leads to such expansion, in the form of swelling, is a combination of a cluster-like concentration of localized deceased skin cells and pus, which leads to excessive inflammation.

Without a doubt, more and more people are more concerned about their health when they are asked to take antibiotics. Since the main way to treat acne would include some antibiotics, more and more people are considering to quit those medications and try to cure acne naturally.

Keep in mind that these remedies only apply to insects like bees, yellow jackets, wasps, hornets or fire ants. For spiders, scorpions, ticks, centipedes or other poisonous insects you should seek treatment from a health provider.

These are a few home remedies for hives that can bring you relief. If your hives outbreak is stress related, consider leading a calmer life. Sometimes this is easier said than done, but relaxing more will help your hives disappear shortly.

In the early stages, the whole body is usually involved and one or two joints may become completely deformed, leaving the patient handicapped and somewhat weakened. It is mostly seen in the elderly

Another way to reduce the effects of gout was monitoring the food intake by avoiding foods that contain high purine content like red meat. By reducing the purine you produce less uric acid to build up in the joints.

The release of inflammatory chemicals at the base of the spine triggers an urge to scratch so the brain doesn't feel the itching, only the scratching. Unfortunately, this reflex reaction is just a temporary fix, and wearing down the skin barrier can invite infection-and more itching!

Avoid stress and stay fit.Staying fit keeps you in tiptop shape and can eliminate excess weight. When this happens, there is lesser pressure on the knees and hips. Regular exercise can also increase your mobility enabling you to perform tasks easier.

The active ingredient in Butcher's Broom is ruscogenine and has been proven to help reduce the swelling in the veins and tissues of the anus and rectum. It has also been proven to strengthen the walls of the veins in this area so that they are not damaged as easily.

If you don't have garlic at home, you can use a piece of raw ONION (Allium cepa) and keep inside the mouth, it relieves the pain and is antiseptic. If you can't stand the smell of onion or garlic, than you may try GOLDEN SEAL, the yellow root (Hydrastis canadensis) and old folk medicine in the US. You can use a piece of the yellow root itself or Golden seal tincture - put it on the affected area (it especially helps with abscess).

Inflammatory Breast Cancer

Inflammatory Breast Cancer

Inflammatory Breast Cancer

The symptoms of cancer will appear and grow rapidly day by day, week by week. Women with inflammatory breast cancer often have no idea that they have breast cancer because IBC does not usually form a lump in the breast. Instead, this cancer forms 'sheets' of cancer cells making your breast feel thicker or heavier than usual. Other symptoms of IBC include swelling and tenderness of the breast, discoloration (usually red to purple) of the breast, itching or pain in the breast, dimpled or rough looking skin on the breast, swelling or crusting of the skin on the nipple and flattening or retraction of the nipple. Many of these symptoms mimic those of a breast infection, or mastitis. Mastitis usually causes a fever and usually occurs in younger breast-feeding mothers. Mastitis will respond to antibiotics. IBC, which has been documented in breast-feeding women, does not cause a fever nor respond to antibiotics.

Because the symptoms of IBC are so similar to mastitis and because inflammatory breast cancer is so rare, many doctors misdiagnose this cancer as mastitis. Patients are often prescribed multiple rounds of antibiotics because it doesn't clear up after the first round. If you have these symptoms and your doctor wants you to take more than one round of antibiotics, ask for a biopsy or referral to a breast specialist. You may have to be very aggressive to get the proper diagnosis. This is vital because the earlier this is diagnosed, the sooner you can begin treatment and the better your survival chances.

A proper cancer diagnosis usually results from elimination of mastitis as a culprit, with the symptoms still present and possibly getting worse. Your doctor may schedule you for a mammogram or a breast sonogram to confirm the diagnosis, but these are not very reliable with this cancer because the affected area may not show up. A biopsy is the most effective way to confirm diagnosis of this cancer, however it may still be wrong if your doctor biopsies the wrong area of your breast. Because this cancer does grow very rapidly, your doctor may also schedule other tests to determine if your cancer has spread to other organs in your body. This will affect your course of treatment.

Your treatment depends largely upon whether your cancer has spread to other organs of your body. You will most likely have a team of doctors talking with you, trying to determine the best course of treatment for you. You will receive aggressive treatment because inflammatory breast cancer is a late stage cancer. This means you will most likely receive chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy. You will most likely receive chemotherapy first because this cancer makes performing surgery first risky due to the skin changes it causes. Chemotherapy also works to shrink the size of the cancer, making it more likely that surgery will remove all of it. The surgery that most women choose with this cancer is a mastectomy, or complete removal of the affected breast. This is because the cancer is often widespread throughout the breast, making a surgery that preserves breast tissue highly unlikely.

During surgery, your surgeon will probably remove the lymph nodes under your arm to examine them for cancer. After surgery, you will most likely receive radiation therapy. Radiation therapy is used to kill any cancer cells that the surgeon may have missed and to help prevent the cancer from returning. Inflammatory breast cancer has a high incidence of recurrence, so your doctor may prescribe additional rounds of chemotherapy if you responded well to the previous rounds or hormone therapy if your cancer was the type that grew in the presence of estrogen.

Muscle Spasms Causes

Muscle Spasms Causes

Muscle Spasms Causes

Your muscles could be getting overworked. Maybe you have a job or hobby that is physically demanding. Plus, you exercise. You might play sports, too, or spend your spare time fixing things at home. Let's figure out what is causing your pain. Don't overdo things. Overtraining involves working out too often without giving your body the rest it needs to recuperate between workouts. A good rule of thumb is to train a group of muscles every 72 hours or so and not more often than 48 hours apart in any case. poor posture can lead to back pain and all sorts of physical problems because slouching, slumping and sitting too much can put extra strain on our muscles.

Work opposing muscle groups for balance, too. This is critical if you are getting sore because of repetitive movements! If you use your hands and arms a lot, then you need to strengthen shoulders, triceps, and the back of the body. The first course of action for dealing with back pain is usually rest. The pain in your back is usually caused by a muscle injury from straining to lift something or even from just moving in the wrong way. Rest will give the muscle time to heal. Soma pills have the potential to cause an allergic reaction. If you have a sensitivity to meprobamatas and carisoprodol then do not take this medicine. If you have seizure disorders, liver disease or kidney disease then Soma may not be safe for you.

Muscle spasms occur when a muscle is irritated and they begin to spasm in order to protect themselves from further injury. A muscle may be used over and over for and tighten over time, but the muscle may not go into spasm until a simple movement occurs. There are so many different remedies for back pain muscle spasms and other issues. You can find plenty of information on the internet about these issues and how other people have found relief. Once any pain and swelling begin to subside -- again, probably after several days -- you can also try breaking up any left-over muscle knot, simply by pressing a thumb or other finger into the region.

Many individuals overexert themselves over prolonged periods of time until the body has physically broken down. Surprisingly, depression plays even a greater role in back pain. Research studies have shown that if the depression is treated effectively there is a greater reduction in the onset of back pain.

Stiff Joints in Pets

Stiff Joints in Pets

Stiff Joints in Pets

Have you noticed Max the German Sheppard moving slower than normal and not getting as exciting about that game of Frisbee? Has Samantha the Siamese unable to leap to that sunny windowsill with the suppleness she has exhibited in the past? These and many more examples of stiff joints in pets could be an indication of degenerative joint disease in pets or osteoarthritis.

Degenerative joint disease in pets is caused by wear and tear over time accompanied by an erosion of the cartilage. As the cartilage flakes and crakes, the joint loses the shock absorber that allows it to function effectively. As cartilage disappears the bones lose their smooth lubricated action and eventually the bone will become flattened, thickened, eroded, and distorted. Extra bone tissue develops at the joint margins (sometimes jagged). Stiff joints in pets can be a quality of life altering condition that generally is noticed in middle age or older pets.

Common indications of osteoarthritis in pets are lethargy, lameness, swelling in the joint area, muscle loss, and thickening and scarring of the joint membrane. If the condition is allowed to continue or has gone unnoticed for a long period of time the affected joint/joints will make a grating sound. This is the rubbing sound of bone on bone. Your veterinarian will likely want to take an X-ray to confirm the condition.

As a loving pet owner you now are likely wonder what, if anything, can be done both to ease the symptoms and reverse the condition.

Let's discuss a few ideas.

*Weight loss - Degenerative joint disease is most commonly found in weight bearing joints. It is also more common in larger breeds. Weight reduction may also be an important component in successful treatment and should be one of the first steps taken.

*Exercise - Stiff joints reduces the activity level of most pets. This loss of activity may lead to muscle loss and even stiffer less mobile joints. Exercise conducted on soft surfaces or hydrotherapy are both very good options.

*Warm compresses - Using a warm compress or water bottle will make your pet more comfortable and loosen up those stiff joints. Keeping their bed warm, especially in the winter months, is commonly recommended and will make it easier for them to move around; especially early in the morning or late at night.

*Medications - Most medications work to treat pain and inflammation and carry the risk of side effects, especially for long term use. You should not completely dismiss this area of treatment. Prescription medication treatment for stiff joints is best discussed with your veterinary doctor.

*Nutrition and Supplementation - There is good evidence to support the effectiveness of supplementation in treating stiff joints in pets. The supplements that are generally considered to be the most effective contain glucosamine, chondroitin, and an array of vitamins and minerals. Glucosamine and chondroitin are known to be involved in the synthesis and repair of joint cartilage.

In summary, recognizing and treating stiff joints in pet's early can improve your beloved furry friend's chances of recapturing their past quality of life. Your veterinarian may be able to give your pet an analgesic or corticosteroid to relieve and improve joint function but keep in mind this is only a temporary fix. As discussed above a more long lasting solution would be the use of supplements specifically formulated for joint stiffness and joint health. This type of treatment approach to stiff joints can prove helpful in halting and reversing degenerative joint disease in pets and is a safe and effective treatment option worth considering.

Uric Acid Treatment

Uric Acid Treatment

Uric Acid Treatment

High uric acid in blood can cause excruciating gout, and even kidney stones. Here, you'll learn the causes of high uric acid in blood, the long term effect of these high levels, and, both drug-based and natural treatments for gout-causing high acid levels. The cause of high uric acid is a combination of things. First, uric acid appears naturally in our bloodstream, where the excess is processed out of your system by your kidneys via your urine leaving you with natural levels in your blood that normally cause no problems.

The root cause is your kidney's inability to process and flush excess uric acid out of your system. But where does this acid come from in the first place? It occurs naturally in your body as a byproduct of one of your body's normal processes that provides the protein and energy that you need to survive. Uric acid is the result of a chemical process in your body where chemical compounds called "purines" breakdown as they help to produce your protein and energy needs. When they breakdown they produce uric acid. Your kidneys then process and expel excess acid through the urine, leaving sufficient levels in your blood to act as beneficial antioxidants.

Sometime though there is too much acid being produced for the kidneys to process and expel. Or, the kidneys are not working at 100% efficiency and so not enough of the 'normal' levels of acid are being processed. Under either of these conditions insufficient acid is being processed and excreted. The outcome is high levels of uric acid in the blood. The truth is most people are never satisfied. But research shows that if you begin to prioritize your health with your nutrition, exercise program and supplement therapy (vitamins, minerals, herbs), you may be gout-free in days (and healthier). And the reason why this works is because natural gout remedies work by flushing uric acid from your body naturally.

High levels in urine and high levels in the bloodstream indicate that you have higher than normal levels in your body, but your kidneys are functioning o.k. It is just that your body is producing much higher levels of uric acid than normal and your kidneys -- although they are working fine -- just can't cope with the increase. There is a whole range of natural treatments that are now widely being used, such as kidney cleanses, the widespread use of herbs, detoxing, selected fruits and vegetables, natural supplements, etc. In combination with some dietary and lifestyle changes (very important!), these are proving to be very effective.

Using Tylenol As Arthritis Pain Controller

Using Tylenol As Arthritis Pain Controller

Using Tylenol As Arthritis Pain Controller

There are many products on the shelves at our local pharmacy that promise to relieve our aches and pains. Most do bring relief but not to everyone. Different people have different medical conditions allergies, reactions and needs.

I have decided to write this article from the point of view of one such person who has medical restrictions.........me.

I have LUPUS, a chronic, incurable disease in the arthritis family so I'm speaking from private experience. The views expressed here are purely my own and are unsolicited.

Tylenol Arthritis Pain is a 650 mg acetaminophen, extended release tablet, which has up to 8 hours of pain relief.
Theses tablets exceed even the dosage of Tylenol Extra Strength (500 mg) so I recommend that if you are a first time user to start by taking 1.

I am allergic to Aspirin and all anti-inflammatory products that are used in the regular treatment of arthritis and also have a sensitive stomach. Tylenol Arthritis Pain relieves the pain without causing an upset stomach and has caused no allergic reactions to me.

Unlike some other products that can only be taken twice daily (and sometimes leaving you in pain until you can retake them) Tylenol Arthritis Pain can be taken every 8 hours if you take 2 tablets or as I sometimes do,1 every 4 hours depending on my pain. (Consult your doctor before taking this or any other medicine. Remember I am speaking from my personal experience and in no way lay claim to be licensed to practice medicine.)

The packaging is also easy for people to open, having returned to the 'line up the arrows and pop method' contrary to the 'push down, twist and lift' methods that are used in child proof packaging, the only trouble with childproof is that it is also often arthritis proof.

Of course, Tylenol Arthritis pain is also helpful in the treatment of minor aches and pains, headaches, menstrual cramps and others.

As with any medication you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this or any other product in case of and restrictions or conditions that may prohibit you from the use of it.

BEFORE USING TYLENOL ARTHRITIS PAIN CONTROLLED TABLETS:

Some medical conditions may interact with Tylenol Arthritis Pain Controlled-Release Tablets. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
if you are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicines, herbal preparations, or dietary supplements
if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
if you have a history of alcohol abuse or you drink more than 3 alcohol-containing drinks every day
if you have liver or kidney problems or hepatitis

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Tylenol Arthritis Pain Controlled-Release Tablets. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

Isoniazid because the risk of liver problems may be increased
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because the risk of their side effects, including bleeding, may be increased by Tylenol Arthritis Pain Controlled-Release Tablets
This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if Tylenol Arthritis Pain Controlled-Release Tablets may interact with other medicines that you take.

Arthritis Diet - What Foods to Avoid With Arthritis?

Arthritis Diet - What Foods to Avoid With Arthritis?

Arthritis Diet - What Foods to Avoid With Arthritis?

The word arthritis refers to all types of inflammation in the joints. It not only directed at the joint but may also attack any part of the body such as bones, ligaments, muscles, tendons and some internal organs.

There are many different causes of arthritis like trauma, previous injury, genetic, poor nutrition, obesity, and other factors. Although  over-the-counter and prescription medication can help ease arthritis pain and inflammation, avoid foods that trigger arthritis symptoms can also help reduce the pain associated with arthritis.

Saturated and Trans Fats

Saturated fat & trans fat are considered unhealthy because they tend to raise lipoprotein levels and triglyceride levels. This in turn increase the risk for heart disease, stroke and other conditions. This is also not good for those who want to lose weight. Excess weight can put extra pressure to the joints and can lead to cartilage breakdown and cause joint damage. Saturated fat is found commonly in foods from animals and some plant-based such as butter, coconut, palm, cheese, whole milk, ice cream, cream, and fatty meats. While trans fat can be found in  in fast food, fried foods margarines and other commercial baked goods (cookies, donuts, pies, crackers, etc) .

Nightshades

People who suffer from arthritis, it's important that they stay away from nightshade. These food can contribute to your arthritis symptoms.  Nightshade family include sweet and hot peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, pepinos, cape gooseberry, garden huckleberry, ground cherries, chinese lanterns, tomatillos, ground cherry, cayenne Tabasco sauce and belladonna.

Gluten

Arthritis is sometimes caused by the inflammatory response of the immune system in the body. Gluten may trigger autoimmune diseases and can create and increase inflammation in arthritis. You can reduce arthritis pain by avoiding gluten food. These include wheat, grain products, triticale, rye, dairy products, barley, semolina, spelt, bulgur, wheat germ and wheat grass.

Dairy products

Dairy products such as eggs, milk and yogurt may contribute to increase inflammation and pain of the joints in people with arthritis.
